It is specially geared towards the lay trustee wanting to acquire more expertise in this ever more complicated area . For this purpose, it remains the absolute standard and none of its completitors get anywhere near in terms of clarity. However, the book badly needs an up-date and this might be used as an occasion to broaden the scope of the book to make more useful in general.

This is the primer for beginning the estate planning process. If you love your money and want to be educated before hiring estate planning lawyers, this book is for you. Rampell is clear and humorous. He gives you the concepts without the migraine. The book is a great value.

My wife and I decided that we needed to make our wills, however morbid as this process can seem, once it is done one can rest assured that things are taken care of. It doesn't take long in comparative terms and if you can steel yourself to do it it brings a lot of peace of mind. This kit is extremely helpful and cuts the cost considerably. A reviewer has said that it is too basic - well, it must have been improved since then (which was in 2002) because we found it contained everything we needed. The instructions are clear to follow and the forms clearly set out. Will storage is also offered at a very competitive rate. All in all we found this extremely helpful in what can be a tricky task.

Easy to understand and numerous specimen wills. However, the fact that the edition is dated 1990 calls into question the currency of the information given. There have been numerous similar books written since 1990, obviously with reference to more up to date legislation.
Also there was a dearth of information in how to avoid inheritance tax (IHT); given the escalation in house values in recent years, far more people stand to be caught out by IHT. Any book about writing wills worth its salt must deal in some depth with IHT issues.

I brought this book when I was studying land law last year when at the time I was probably going to get a 3rd in the unit because I found all other land law books so difficult to understand.

This book is simplified but with enough depth to cover it perfectly and it demonstrates case law and statutory authority very clearly. I read this a month before my exam and went up two grades as I suddenly understood everything.

This book is honestly one of the best law books I have ever read, and the chapters are so well structured that they even demonstrate to you how best to view that legal problems, which is very good for problems and essay questions.

If I were to start my course again I would but this book and read it before lectures as you can't get anything clearer.
