Title : Last Will Testament Kit
Author :
Rating : 2 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Far too basic
I was very hopeful when I ordered this pack, but very dissapointed when it arrived. The pack comes with a CD which I was expecting to be loaded with files and information, but it only has a total of 272KB of files on the CD !!!
There are three basic will-types included for each of England/Wales and Scotland.
Far too basic, and I don't have a complex requirement.

Title : The Complete Book of Trusts
Author : Martin Shenkman
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : The Complete Book of Trusts is Complete!
Martin Shankman gives a very comprehensive and extremely detailed treatment of trusts in The Complete Book of Trusts. Marti gives numerous examples, suggested clauses, and pointers in how to best use trusts. Further, Marti gives the reader suggestions on how to broach certain estate planning and trust strategies subjects to one's attorney.
I must, in all fairness, say to the reader that this is not a book that will show you how to prapare your own trust. If the reader desires such a book, perhaps he/she should look elsewhere. There are quite a few books that will show the reader how to draft a legally valid living trust. I especially like the one published by Nolo Press which is available right here at amazon.com. However, if the reader would prefer to have a very broad, comprehensive, detailed and in-depth discussion of the subject of trusts, that is very readable and user-friendly, I would very highly recommend Marti Shankman's The Complete Book of Trusts without any reservation whatsoever.
In sum, The Complete Book of Trust is a great value. So, here is what I have to say: buy it; read it; and use it by bringing the subjects relevant to your own estate planning concerns, to your attorney's attention; so that you can accomplish your very own estate planning goals.

Title : Powers (Property Conveyancing Library)
Author : Geraint Thomas
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Quite the best modern treatment of a difficult topic.
Farwell on Powers (1916) is apparently back in print, with someone doing "on-demand" reprints. Farwell is somewhat quaint, particularly if you were not doing conveyancing in the 19th century (my disability, too).
Thomas brings the matter bang up to date. I found the answers I needed quickly, and the matter was explained precisely.

Title : Cases and Materials on Equity and Trusts
Author : Paul Todd
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : An excellent book
This is an excellent book. I would advise that it should be used in conjunction with a "heavier-weight" textbook, such as Hanbury Martin; but as a cases and materials book, it is well worth investigating.

Title : Living Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney (Pocket Lawyer S.)
Author : Mark Fairweather
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Essential reading for everybody over 18 in the UK
Imagine you have become mentally incapable of managing your own finances. This could just as easily be the result of a serious accident as old age. It could happen to anyone. It could happen to you today.
Would you want strangers running your affairs? I don't think so. This book is well written in an entertaining style and makes it easy to prepare an Enduring Power of Attorney that enables you to decide who will take control.
Everybody responsible enough to write a will should also write an EPA. It is easy and, other than the cost of the book, free. Don't delay.

Title : Understanding Living Trusts: How You Can Avoid Probate, Save Taxes and Enjoy Peace of Mind
Author : Vickie Schumacher
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : It keeps gettin' better all the time...
I've recently had the privilage to read this fifth installment about estate planning from Jim and Vickie Schumacher, and I can honestly say it's the best they've turned out yet. Ever since their first edition (originally titled A Will is not the Way), these two have been giving us clear and concise information about the estate planning world in everyday, conversational English. This tradition is continued in their newest edition. What makes the fifth edition a must have, however, is all the new information they've included. Five months ago, President Clinton signed the Taxpayers Relief Act of 1997, seriously changing the "rules" on estate and capital gains taxes. Not only have the Schumacher's already incorporated this new information into their book and translated it from Washington's "legelese" into English I can understand, they've even told me how these changes pratically apply to my estate planning situation. This alone would make the book worth buying, but when you couple it with the state-specific estate planning information they've included (as a direct response from reader's requests), you've got a real steal.
