I would definitely recommend this book to all those who are studying Equity. Unlike many legal text books, this one is written is such a way that it accessible to all, both the beginner and those who wish to clarify points on equity that they have studied. It provides the reader with a common sense approach to equity and while it can sometimes simplify some points of law, it generally provides a sufficiently detailed explanation of Equity and helps the reader to better understand this difficult subject. Another advantage to this book is that it does not saturate the reader with endless lists of cases, instead concentrating on the most important cases and providing explanations of all necessary facts in an accessible manner. In order for this book to be used as an easy reference guide while studying, the index is clear yet sufficiently detailed enabling you to find certain aspects of this area of law quickly and easily. In conclusion, this book is ideal as both a study guide and those who simply have an interest in the subject. While perhaps not detailed enough to be used as a textbook on its own, it provides a great reference point for any law student at an affordable and extremely reasonable price.

For less than a tenner we were able to construct wills exactly as we required, following the excellent instructions. For most people, like us, making a will need not be a complicated business, and this pack is perfect.

It is full of surprising facts and has a large section on inheritence tax saving. Very good value. The compehensive index makes it easy to use. This book covers making executing/administering a will in England Wales (Note: This legal jurisdiction is important and unclear from the author's and amazon's description). As stated by others the pro-forma letters are useful. It is written in a style appropriate to its most common readers i.e. the recently bereaved, its easy to read and very inoffensive. Its good on probate wills, but weak on tax affairs (presumably to aid the books longevity).

I bought this book and found it useful when needing this knowledge.

Summary : Quite the best modern treatment of a difficult topic.

Farwell on Powers (1916) is apparently back in print, with someone doing "on-demand" reprints. Farwell is somewhat quaint, particularly if you were not doing conveyancing in the 19th century (my disability, too).

Thomas brings the matter bang up to date. I found the answers I needed quickly, and the matter was explained precisely.
