service setting up will writingMaking a will is something that, because of the reason why we need to do it, is something that is easily put off - yet can lead to huge problems with probate if you don't write one in time.
This book is simplified but with enough depth to cover it perfectly and it demonstrates case law and statutory authority very clearly. I read this a month before my exam and went up two grades as I suddenly understood everything. This book is honestly one of the best law books I have ever read, and the chapters are so well structured that they even demonstrate to you how best to view that legal problems, which is very good for problems and essay questions. If I were to start my course again I would but this book and read it before lectures as you can't get anything clearer.
I must, in all fairness, say to the reader that this is not a book that will show you how to prapare your own trust. If the reader desires such a book, perhaps he/she should look elsewhere. There are quite a few books that will show the reader how to draft a legally valid living trust. I especially like the one published by Nolo Press which is available right here at amazon.com. However, if the reader would prefer to have a very broad, comprehensive, detailed and in-depth discussion of the subject of trusts, that is very readable and user-friendly, I would very highly recommend Marti Shankman's The Complete Book of Trusts without any reservation whatsoever. In sum, The Complete Book of Trust is a great value. So, here is what I have to say: buy it; read it; and use it by bringing the subjects relevant to your own estate planning concerns, to your attorney's attention; so that you can accomplish your very own estate planning goals.
It is a well written and lucid book that was researched with vigour. The book covers the essentials of Trust law. I have read the whole book, and (I know most law students will find this hard to believe) I really did enjoy it. There are a few typos (pages 397, 541, 512, 635)but who really cares? I think this book, now in its third edition has an excellent balance between facts, cases, principles and criticism. Furthermore it is easy to understand. Ignore the bad reviews, they are absolutely wrong.
